Horizontal vs Vertical composition
Look at these two images, each was shot at the same time of the day, what is the difference?
They are both beautiful images, they are awesome, you’re right and yes, you’re right again, one is horizontal and one is vertical.
In photography, especially in landscapes, it’s common to keep the camera horizontal. First, cameras were designed to take photographs this way. Our eyes see the world in this way, they are set horizontally and give us a view wider than taller.
But is there a reason not to flip the camera and try a vertical shot? I don’t think so. Shooting horizontally is just a habit. Maybe we don’t have enough practical experience framing shots, but the right way to do it is just trying, experimenting. Don’t be afraid because in digital photography, taking more photos is free, so just give it a go, flip your camera vertical and fire as many shots as you like, you just need a good hard drive!
